The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office has now made 100 arrests of curfew violators since it was put into effect on Saturday as Hurricane Irma was approaching. Those include 43 in the overnight hours leading up to Tuesday morning.
A sheriff's spokeswoman says people with legitimate reasons for being out, such as going to work or responding to a family emergency, don't have to fear being hauled off to jail, but they should be prepared to be pulled over.
In fact, employees at the county jail were pulled over on their way to work, but allowed to proceed once they told deputies where they were headed.
The dusk to dawn curfew was modified to run from 10 p.m. Tuesday night to 6 a.m. Wednesday, until further notice.
