Key Deer Getting Help From Local First Responders

First responders from our area are coming into contact with some of the natives in the Keys, namely the Key Deer, which call Big Pine Key home.

We had previously seen video of a few of the deer running around the damage left behind by Hurricane Irma.

Over the weekend, some Martin County Sheriff's Deputies helping out in Big Pine were approached by a deer, while another deer has been getting some help from a Broward County firefighter.

Lieutenant Nick Johnson served the deer some bottled water yesterday after he discovered the animal sleeping in an abandoned home.

There are fewer than a thousand Key Deer in existence.
